FAQs

WHY AREN'T YOU IN GROCERY STORES?

The large scale grocery industry is a big, complex system with a lot of moving parts. In order to have our product on the shelves, we would need to contract with a distributor and a broker, change our operating systems, redesign our labels, pay for shelf space, and give the first case of each sauce to each location for free. Plus, there are chargebacks, promo costs, and a thousand other charges that would take our margins to almost nothing. It's very expensive to get into grocery stores, and adds even more layers between us and our customers. We prefer to work directly with restaurants, small retailers and our customers.

WHERE ARE YOUR SCOVIES OR OTHER AWARDS?

Our sauces are Made For Food. We don't feel that sampling 50 sauces back-to-back on plastic spoons is the most accurate way to determine which one will make your eggs taste the best. That process naturally selects the most novel, unique sauces, ones that stand out the most. Not the best tasting. With that in mind, we have chosen not to enter those contests any more. The only feedback we value is what our customers give us, check out each sauce's shop page for their reviews! We did win a Scovie Award though, 3rd place in 2021 for social media!

WHY DON'T YOU TALK ABOUT THE CHARITIES YOU SUPPORT MORE?

This is something we've struggled with since we started. While we are thrilled to donate about 3.5% of our total revenue ($0.25 per bottle) to the 6 great Denver-based organizations we partner with, we don't see it as a marketing opportunity. We would love to drive more attention to their causes, but it doesn't seem right coming from a hot sauce company. To be frank, we think it's a little tacky when we see other CPG and retail companies putting their charitable contributions at the forefront of their messaging. It comes across as disingenuous and ill-intentioned. Just sell your stuff, donate the money, and move on, dummies.
